The second question every renovation client asks (right after cost) is how long will my pool be down? — and it deserves a better answer than ‘depends’. Here are the honest Bali timelines by project shape, the stages physics refuses to rush, and the stretchers to plan around:

- The cosmetic reset (restoration clean + regrout + waterline): about 1–2 weeks — the makeover window, buildable into a booking gap
- Full resurface or retile with equipment: about 3–5 weeks — strip-back, substrate and cure time doing the honest work
- The major transformation (reshaping, edge conversion, structural): 6–10+ weeks — approaching new-build rhythm, because structurally it partly is one
The stages that refuse to rush
Two clocks in every renovation belong to chemistry, not scheduling: cure time — renders, waterproofing and adhesives reaching strength before the next layer or the water arrives (the corner cut in every ‘suspiciously fast’ quote, invoiced later as mistake #3 and #6) — and startup, the fresh surface’s settling window after refill. A timeline without them is a fiction with a schedule.
What stretches timelines (plan, don’t hope)
Strip-back findings (the survey’s provisional becoming real scope), wet-season working windows (the reason the Feb–May season exists), specialist material lead times (graded Sukabumi batches, imported equipment), and decision lag — the one stretcher the owner controls; pre-agreed decision rules keep a remote project moving at site speed. Build buffer for the first three, eliminate the fourth, and the schedule you sign is the schedule you get.
Honest timelines have cure time inside them — the fast quote is usually just the slow failure, rescheduled.
