The stages

- 3. Excavation & groundwork: days on a flat plot; longer on slopes and rock — and where site surprises live
- 4. Steel & shell: reinforcement and concrete — the structural heart, and where quality is invisible forever after; photos of this stage are worth demanding
- 5. The cure: concrete needs weeks to reach strength — the stage impatience ruins; a builder promising to skip it is promising future cracks
- 6. Waterproofing, plumbing & finish: membrane, pipework pressure-tested before burial, then tile or stone finishing — the slow, visible, satisfying stage
- 7. Equipment, fill & commissioning: pump and filtration installed, pool filled, chemistry established, systems tuned — then the first swim
Timing honestly
A straightforward villa pool typically runs a few months end to end; slopes, rain and complexity add time. Build in the dry season where you can — monsoon and excavation are miserable partners. And remote owners: insist on staged photo reports; every stage above photographs, and a builder who documents is a builder with nothing to hide.
